It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the WPATA webpage. Your contact with us is important and we hope that you will find the information you seek about Transactional Analysis in Australia.
Founded in 1982 by Margaret and Jeff White, WPATA sought to meet the training and examining requirements in the Western Pacific Region. In 2002 we gained mutual recognition of qualifications and training with the respective training bodies of ITAA and EATA. As well, we have our own Australian accreditation and nationally recognized training offering Certificate IV, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma qualifications in the field of psychotherapy and a Graduate Diploma in all four fields - psychotherapy, counselling, education and management (organizational).
Recently a new constitution was voted in and we are currently in the process of its implementation. As a result of this, we will be forming a new regional body with our close neighbours in New Zealand, NZTAA.
First developed by Eric Berne MD, Transactional Analysis has evolved to include applications in the fields of Psychotherapy, Counselling, Organisational and Education.
